Our students had a great time at IGEHO, one of Switzerland's largest exhibitions for hospitality, gastronomy and service providers...

A large part of a good hospitality education comes in providing students with direct exposure to industry leaders and practitioners.

At IMI, we offer numerous opportunities during the study journey for insight into the latest industry trends through excursions, events and field trips.

One of the biggest hospitality exhibitions to take place in Switzerland is IGEHO - a platform for the hospitality, gastronomy and care industries that takes place once every two years in Basel.

The exhibition combines trade stalls, demonstrations, a dedicated cookery stage and various breakout seminars, round-tables and talks.

For our students, it provides a fantastic opportunity to delve into the world of industry and interact with, and gain insight from, today's hospitality experts.

With over 400 exhibitors present - including food and drink producers, technology developers and restaurateurs and chefs - this was a chance to expose themselves to the latest industry trends and ask questions of the people who are pushing these developments.

Our visiting students certainly fully immersed themselves in the day, taking time to explore the two vast halls and interact with the many exhibitors.

Commenting on the visit, BA (Hons) in International Hospitality Entrepreneurship student Rameen said: "Attending IGEHO was a truly wonderful experience. The vibrant atmosphere and wide range of exhibits at the event highlighted the newest developments in both culinary and hospitality.

"Not only did I leave feeling informed, but I was also inspired and equipped with new ideas to advance my studies and career. I’m very grateful for IMI to providing us with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

Over 400 industry exhibitors were present at the 2023 event.

For all the valuable learning that goes on in the classroom, we know that it is also crucial to immerse students in first-hand experiences like the IGEHO visit which are both knowledge-enhancing and highly memorable.

This is why our teaching methods will always combine a solid foundation of theoretical knowledge aligned with direct interaction with and exposure to the modern industry.

This holistic learning approach has produced generations of successful hospitality professionals with our alumni going on to take leadership roles in a wide range of industries.

One thing is certain, an IMI graduate will never be anything less than industry ready!
