iHomeLab Visit

20 May 2016

A group of our BA students visited the iHomeLab which specialises in applied research in energy efficiency and assisted living...

Hospitality, like many other industries, is constantly enhancing and expanding the range of services it can offer through the implementation of new technology.

At IMI, we recognise the pivotal role that technology plays in developing the industry and want to ensure that our students are at the cutting edge of the possibilities on offer.

To help with this, every term we take our BA students studying the Managing Information Systems module to the nearby iHomeLab which specialises in applied research in energy efficiency and assisted living.

The lab is one of the research facilities of the Hochschule Luzern and has played an important role in developing some of the technologies that make our homes more comfortable and our hotels nicer places to stay.

Our students were given a guided tour of the facility and an explanation of the research carried out there and some of the technologies currently in development.

This was a great opportunity for them to get an insight into the types of systems that in 10 or 20 years' time could become commonplace within the hospitality sector.

We would like to thank the staff at iHomeLab for taking the time to show us round and we look forward to our next visit to see the next generation of technologies in development!
