BIG Week goes virtual

29 April 2020

Even though some of our new students won't be physically on campus for the start of our May semester, they will still have access to an online BIG Week...

IMI's BIG Weeks have become a fixed part of the school calendar, with new and returning students alike looking forward to each semester's theme and set of activities.

Our May 2020 semester will not be typical however, as the Coronavirus outbreak prevents much international travel and means the majority of our new students will start their programme through an online teaching mode.

Although we won’t be able to put on all the events and activities that would normally take place during the welcome week, we will still be throwing a virtual BIG Week for our 2020B intake.

Students and staff alike were very impressed with the speed with which we moved our academic classes online when the virus first hit Switzerland and we hope to continue this successful transition with the BIG Week.

Using Microsoft Teams and other online resources, our new students will attend induction sessions covering IT resources and online learning, an introduction to their academic programmes as well as a virtual campus tour.

We hope that this initial contact with both staff and some of our current students will reassure them and give them a sense of the family spirit for which IMI is famed.

These are unusual times but we are confident that, despite the geographical distance, we will provide as warm a welcome as ever to our new starters.
