In November, we had a particularly ‘hospitable’ week as we welcomed visitors for our Open Week, Open Day and Student Ambassador programme.
Our relationships with our international network of partner schools is very important to us at IMI.
This is why we decided to set up our Student Ambassador programme, where chosen representatives from the schools can come and spend a week experiencing life in Switzerland and on our campus.
For the November programme, we were delighted to welcome students from countries including Canada, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea and New Zealand. They were also joined on campus by participants in our Open Week programme – who visited us for a full week’s taster of study and life at IMI.
The students were treated to the full Swiss experience which included a city tour of Luzern, a trip up Mount Pilatus, a hike in the Kastanienbaum countryside and a specially arranged cheese and wine tasting.
As well as this insight into the ‘Swiss experience,’ the ambassadors also got to attend both hospitality and culinary arts classes led by IMI faculty and experience some of the teaching which has led to the school’ reputation for academic excellence.
The week was rounded off with the presentation of certificates and a review session where the students could share their impressions of the week and memories of their time with us.
On the last day of the Student Ambassador programme, we also welcomed guests for our Open Day.
During a full day of activities, the Open Day guests attended talks and presentations on IMI, our programmes and the careers support we offer, indulged in a fine-dining lunch in our Swiss Room restaurant and got to enjoy a wine and cheese tasting experience under the guidance of our expert faculty.
The feedback from all our guests was universally positive and they spoke highly of the warm, family-like reception they had received from everyone at the school.
Particular thanks should go to the IMI student mentors who were chosen to accompany the visiting students on excursions and act as their contact points during the week – a job they carried out with great professionalism and enthusiasm.
We very much enjoyed welcoming all of our visitors to IMI and we look forward to extending our hospitality to even more guests in the very near future.
The next IMI Open Day will take place on the 12th January 2018. You can register to attend using this link.
