Summer 2018 was one of the sunniest in Switzerland for many years and this provided the perfect setting for IMI's second annual Summer Programme.
Welcoming students from countries including China, Kenya, Romania, Russia and Turkey, the Summer Programme offers a perfect introduction to what life is like at a leading hospitality school.
The programme combines a mix of academic and practical sessions with a range of activities and excursions, meaning students not only get a great feel for life at IMI, but also learn more about Switzerland through some unique cultural experiences.
If this wasn’t enough to fill the two weeks, our visitors also attended languages classes with opportunities to improve either their English or German language skills.
For this year’s programme, we brought in some brand new masterclasses introducing our guests to hospitality concepts, including a Restaurant Skills class in our Swiss Room restaurant and Scandinavian Cinnamon Bun baking in our kitchens.
However, with the Swiss sunshine smiling down on us, we didn’t want to keep our visitors in a classroom all week. A hike around the campus allowed them to experience the beautiful Kastanienbaum countryside that we call home and this was followed by a game of mini-golf and ice-creams all round to cool down!
Over the weekend, we took the students up Mount Pilatus where they got to enjoy the tree-top rope park as well as the spectacular views offered of Luzern and the surrounding regions. As the tempartures got event higher, there was also a timely visit to the Alpamare Water Park where everyone could cool down while enjoying the many exciting slide rides on offer.
The above were just some of the highlights of what was an action-packed two weeks and the feedback from both the participants and the staff involved with the programme was all highly positive.
We had a great time with our 2018 Summer Programme guests and are already planning how to make the 2019 experience even more memorable!
Our 2019 Summer Programme will take place between the 22nd July and the 3rd August 2019. You can find more information here.
