A Unique Learning Environment

Hospitality and business management cannot be fully understood through theory alone. At IMI International Management Institute Switzerland, students learn within real operating environments that reflect the pace, standards, and expectations of the global industry.

With the addition of the Hotel Seeburg, IMI becomes the only management school in Switzerland with its own directly managed historical 4-star training hotel.

Over 150 Years on the Shores of Lake Lucerne
With origins dating back to 1584, Hotel Seeburg is recognised as the oldest hotel on Lake Lucerne. For more than 150 years, it has welcomed international guests while becoming part of Lucerne’s hospitality heritage.
A Blend of History and Hospitality
Hotel Seeburg combines historic Swiss architecture with modern hospitality spaces developed over decades. The property brings together traditional lakeside charm, elegant event spaces, and contemporary guest facilities within one destination.

Swiss Hospitality Heritage

Located on the shores of Lake Lucerne, Hotel Seeburg combines Swiss hospitality heritage with modern operations, including guest accommodation, fine dining, banqueting, and events facilities. Today, it also serves as an extension of the IMI learning environment, where students gain first-hand exposure to the realities of hospitality and management.

Unlike traditional classroom-based education, IMI students experience management in practice. Classes and training activities take place directly within the hotel, allowing students to engage with real operations across culinary arts, front office, rooms division, food and beverage, and events management.

This immersive approach gives students more than technical knowledge. It develops operational awareness, professional confidence, and an understanding of how hospitality businesses perform in real time. Students learn how decisions impact guest experience, team coordination, financial performance, and service standards within a live business environment.

The integration of Hotel Seeburg into the IMI experience also strengthens the institute’s broader educational philosophy: combining academic structure with practical relevance. Through UK-accredited programmes delivered in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, students benefit from internationally recognised education while applying their learning directly within a functioning hotel operation.

For students considering a future in hospitality, business, or culinary management, Hotel Seeburg represents more than a training facility. It is an opportunity to learn inside a real hotel, alongside professional teams and international guests, within one of Switzerland’s most recognised hospitality settings.

As hospitality continues to evolve globally, practical understanding, adaptability, and operational experience are becoming increasingly valuable. Through Hotel Seeburg, IMI offers students the opportunity to develop these qualities from the beginning of their academic journey.

The Legacy of the Panorama Saal
One of the hotel’s most distinctive spaces is the Panorama Saal, featuring mirrors and ceiling paintings originally salvaged from the former Hotel Ritz in London. The hall remains one of Seeburg’s most recognisable historical elements.
A Hotel That Continues to Evolve
Over the years, Hotel Seeburg has continued to modernise while preserving its historical identity. Renovations introduced updated hospitality, dining, and meeting spaces with panoramic views across Lake Lucerne and the Alps.
Now Part of the IMI Experience
Today, Hotel Seeburg serves as IMI’s historical 4-star training hotel. Students learn directly within a live hospitality environment across culinary arts, front office, rooms division, food and beverage, and events operations.
