New Student at IMI Switzerland for BIG Week 24C

"Grüezi" to our new students

We wished a warm Swiss welcome to our new students who arrived on campus this August to begin their IMI study adventures...

A new term brings lots of new faces to the IMI campus, and this August was no different as we welcomed students from 19 different countries to start their studies with us
.

Traditionally our most popular intake, it is always great to hear the campus full of chatter and laughter again after the Summer break.

One thing that every new student to IMI can expect is a very warm welcome which starts from the moment they land in Switzerland.

A member of our staff is on hand to greet each new arrival at the airport and bring them to the campus, ensuring that their first experiences are as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

Of course, once settled in to their new Kastanienbaum home, their IMI adventure starts in earnest with our induction BIG Week which we run each term.

"The greeting we received has made us feel right at home. Sharing this adventure as sisters strengthened our friendship, allowing us to face the trials and joys of studying abroad together, making memories that will last a lifetime."

The purpose of the BIG Week is to provide our new students with all the essential information they will need, both for their academic studies but also for living in Switzerland and making the most of their time here
.

As well as enjoying campus tours, meeting the IMI faculty and staff, and attending dedicated briefings for their chosen study programme, there are also lots of activities and fun sessions where they can get to know each other better.

One of the highlights of the week is the BIG City Treasure Hunt where our new arrivals are set a series of tasks and challenges to be completed around their new home town of Luzern.

From locating the oldest building in the city to taking a photo with a man with an amazing moustache, the idea behind the activity is to create a sense of teamwork to help start the bonding process between each new cohort.

We are always impressed with the enthusiasm the students bring to this activity and you can see some of the results in the reel below...

Our new students embrace the BIG City Treasure Hunt.

Now firmly settled on campus and focused on their academic studies, it already feels like our August intake has been with us for months rather than weeks.

Part of this is down to the efforts we put in during their first days on campus to ensure each new student feels welcome, secure and comfortable as quickly as possible.

It is this "family feeling" that makes us unique among hospitality schools and we can't wait to see the ongoing progress of our newest IMI Family members!
