This programme builds on the foundation skills and knowledge gained at Certficate level. The objective of the Diploma is to further develop students' knowledge, understanding and practical skills within revenue generating outlets of the hospitality industry and provide a solid grounding in the financial and operational considerations necessary for their successful management.

  • IMI Certificate/High school/I.B./A Levels or equivalent
  • Proficiency in English: 5.0 IELTS or equivalent

Personal Professional Development (PPD1) is a structured and supported process whereby students can plan, monitor and reflect on their academic work and improve their presentation skills to help prepare for a professional career.

This unit provides an investigation into hotel facilities; their design, construction and maintenance and the relationship of these facilities with the operation and management of a hotel.

An introduction to basic marketing concepts with particular emphasis on the hospitality industry. A strong focus is given to consumer behaviour theory and consumer purchasing stages. Students' learning experience is complemented by case studies on social media and how this influences modern day consumer behaviour.

Students are actively involved in competence based practical skills in a working restaurant environment. Students experience different service styles applicable to today's food and beverage industry.

This unit explores and develops students' understanding of practical skills, technical skills, equipment and procedures in today's modern kitchen environment.

The unit introduces restaurant management approaches to different service concepts: menu development and analysis, beverage sales and control, POS systems and principles of restaurant design.

An introduction to the core principals and concepts of managerial accounting and basic financial management in the hospitality industry.

The unit introduces the students to key tourism concepts, principles and impacts. The unit will also provide them with an introduction and a business approach to Tourism.
