As a private institution, IMI does not provide any full scholarships and students are expected to be in a position to finance their own studies in Switzerland, especially as this will be a requirement by the Swiss immigration authorities for the study visa application.

However, we have a number of initiatives that are linked to IMI's admissions strategy, which aim to assist motivated people to study at our institution. For more information about any of the initiatives listed below, please contact us at and one of our Admissions Officers will contact you for a personal consultation to discuss your situation and guide you accordingly.

Scholarship on fees

Periodically, we offer some part-scholarships to certain applicants. These partial scholarships are offered as a reduction on the tuition fees. There are no scholarships on offer on the registration fee or prices for accommodation and meals. Currently, we have the following special offers in place:

  • Swiss nationals or C permit holders may be eligible for a reduction of tuition fees on each academic semester at IMI.
  • Permanent residence B permit holders in Switzerland may be eligible for a reduction on tuition fees on each academic semester of study.
  • As we aim to maintain out our varied nationality mix on campus, periodically we may offer partial scholarships to nationals of certain countries. As this list changes regularly and there are a limited number of such part-scholarships on offer, requests for these part-scholarships will only be examined upon receipt of a full and complete application and a formal request for consideration for a part-scholarship.

Hospitality is my passion! True hospitality is personal engagement, it is all about passion and love! It is hard to teach as it comes from the heart. Yet there are systems you can employ to improve service, and these are the qualities and skills offered at IMI.

Community scholarships

In order to enhance students’ knowledge and skills, we are pleased to offer some students the opportunity to gain some further experience during their academic semester. Selected students will dedicate a few hours per week for practical experience in one of the following departments at IMI:

  • F&B Service
  • F&B Stewarding
  • F&B Kitchen
  • Housekeeping
  • Marketing
  • Alumni
  • Library

Notification about these community scholarships are issued during the first week of the semester and students will be required to submit an application if they wish to apply for one of more of these positions. An interview will be held with those shortlisted, after which an offer will be made to the selected students.

For more information about these community scholarships, please contact us on and we will be delighted to provide you with some more information.
