Hotel Château Gütsch Visit

24 May 2017

Our students had the chance to visit Luzern's world-famous Hotel Château Gütsch as part of their BA (Hons) Degree Concept Development project...

Every visitor to Luzern is wowed by the iconic Hotel Château Gütsch which stands looking over the city affording some of the best views to be had of the surrounding area.

Our Hospitality Leadership and Innovation students, led by Dr Carrie-Ann Brühlmann, visited this Luzern landmark and used it as the basis of a concept consultancy project.

Based on the visit and a Q&A session with the hotel's Resident Manager, the students should develop innovative ways for the Château's restaurant to increase revenues during the quiet season.

Using the knowledge gained during their studies, they must research, develop and finally present their concept proposals to the hotel's management before receiving feedback.

This real-world project is a great way for IMI students to experience life as a hospitality consultant.  There is no better case study then one of Luzern's best known and loved hotels!

Hotel Château Gütsch was constructed in 1888 with the architecture inspired by the Bavarian castle Neuschwanstein.  Today, the hotel maintains its fairytale Belle-Epoque style while also proving to be a hugely popular attraction for tourists looking to dine, enjoy the cocktail bar or just experience one of the best views over Luzern and the Vierwaldstätter Lake.

We look forward to seeing what our students come up with and maybe even seeing the implementation of some of their ideas in the hotels' future development.
