Welcome Lunches

21 September 2018

Every term we welcome our new students, and welcome back our students returning from internship, with a fine-dining Swiss Room lunch...

“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” - Virginia Woolf

Breaking bread and dining in company is the original act of hospitality.

Although the food has got more sophisticated over the years, and the restaurants more extravagant, we still hold on to this first principle at IMI and see meal times as a way of bringing our school community together.

This is why, at the start of each term, we host Welcome Lunches in our Swiss Room restaurant to greet our new students and catch up with our students returning to us from their internship placements.

Students are split into class groups and at least two members of the IMI faculty attend to ensure that students get to know both their classmates and their lecturers/support staff.

Enjoying a leisurely, fine-dining experience in our training restaurant gives everyone the chance to socialise and chat in a relaxed and friendly environment.

It was great getting to know all our new arrivals that little bit better and hearing about all the fun (and hard but rewarding work) experienced by our returning students on their work placements.

There really is no better way to prepare for a successful and enjoyable term ahead than a hearty and nourishing meal!
