Back to the Future

11 June 2019

We once again visited the Media World at Luzern's Swiss Transport Museum to show out students the latest in augmented reality tech...

The world of technology evolves faster and faster every day and keeping up with the latest developments can be a challenge for even the most tech-savvy of individuals.

Students who take our Managing Information Systems unit, learn all about the latest forms of communications and corporate management systems. As part of their studies, we take them on a field trip to the nearby Swiss Transport Museum to visit the Media World centre.

Focusing on current and future virtual and augmented reality technologies, it offers a fully immersive experience with many different interactive technologies to discover.

Our students were able to produce their own news cast, experience walking on a virtual moon, explore the many special effects available in the green room, and even try an augmented reality flying simulator.

Although a lot of fun, the visit also gave the students a greater insight into how these technologies can be used in the hospitality, or indeed any industry, to enhance the guest/client experience and create memorable interactive experiences.

At IMI, our mission it to create hospitality and business leaders of the future. Keeping students abreast of all the latest in technological advances is a great way to “future-proof” them for their future careers in this ever advancing world.
