Coronavirus: Delivery of classes

13 March 2020

Starting from Monday 16th March 2020, we are moving into an online synchronous teaching mode...

Following the directives issued this afternoon by the Swiss Federal Government to forbid the delivery of any physical classes at higher education institutions in the whole of Switzerland, IMI is committed to ensure that your studies continue uninterrupted.

Starting from Monday 16th March 2020, we are moving into an online synchronous teaching mode, until further notice.

Only essential staff will be present on campus as from Monday 16th March 2020, with the majority of lecturers and administration staff working from home, and therefore reachable through email as normal.

Our faculty is trained and ready to provide their lectures through our Microsoft Teams online platform.  You will be notified through Moodle about the necessary steps and login information you require to access this online platform.

Practical classes such as Food & Beverage Service or Kitchen classes are suspended until further notice and your timetable will reflect the necessary changes in due course.    IMI is committed to deliver extra practical classes once the Federal Government lifts restrictions.

Accommodation and Meals

Being a residential school for students of over 40 nationalities, IMI accommodation on campus or externally in the Mattenhof Apartments, as well as meals on campus, will continue to be provided, to ensure the well-being and safety of our students.

Check e-mails

Please note that instructions may change at short notice, so IMI Switzerland continues to keep students updated on developments and therefore it is imperative that students on campus or on internship check their IMI email address several times a day.  This is to protect yourself and others should urgent action need to be taken.

Students are encouraged to update their parents/guardians/sponsors on the current situation, reassuring them that IMI remains open for business as normal.

Representatives of students on campus or on internship in Switzerland will receive a copy of this notification, for their information.

A further update with more detailed information will follow on Monday.
