Virtual Teaching at IMI

In response to the Coronavirus outbreak, we were swiftly able to implement online teaching to ensure the health and safety of both students and staff...

The Coronavirus outbreak has presented many challenges globally for individuals, organisations and governments.

At IMI, our first concern was always for the safety and well-being of our students and staff members on campus. However, we also wanted to ensure that, as far as possible, teaching could go on as normal and students would not suffer any interruption to their study programmes.

Swift implementation of real-time online teaching through Microsoft’s Teams software has meant teachers and students can interact virtually, with the ability for lectures, presentations and teaching resources to be shared digitally.

With students able to sign in and attend classes through a simple click, the software replicates as closely as possible the classroom environment while maintaining that all-important social distance.

Teachers have been busy setting up their home offices and creating a comfortable work environment from which to deliver their lectures, while students have been getting used to attending classes from their rooms on campus or from home.

This has been a great example of the IMI family coming together to make the best of a challenging situation. It is with this positive and collaborative spirit that we will go on to meet any further challenges presented in the coming weeks and ensure as normal a living and study environment as possible for our students.
