The signing of this MoU is the first step in the process of developing an academic pathway, allowing Lebanese American University (LAU) students to continue their studies with us at IMI.
LAU has a remarkable history and was originally founded with the desire to extend education to women at a time when few, if any, such possibilities existed.
Two Presbyterian missionaries Eli and Sarah L. Smith arrived in Lebanon in 1835 and offered classes to the local female population, eventually founding what came to be known as the American School of Girls.
There have been many changes over the years, notably the college becoming Coed in 1973, but the desire to offer education to all is still a key foundation of the school's mission.
Fully accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education, Inc. (NECHE) since 2010, the university offers study options in over 30 different disciplines across two state-of-the-art campuses.
We can't wait to strengthen our relationship with LAU in the up-coming months and hope to soon welcome their students to our Kastanienbaum home!
