GoGlobal with Manchester Met.

It was great to welcome students and faculty from UK-partner Manchester Metropolitan University as part of their GoGlobal initiative...

Since our partnership began in 1995, IMI has always valued the close ties we have with UK partner Manchester Metropolitan University

As well as validating all our undergraduate and MSc degree programmes, we also regularly exchange academic visits with the British university and collaborate on various study projects.

We were therefore delighted to welcome a group of students and faculty from Manchester to the IMI campus for their first study visit since the Covid travel restrictions.

The trip was part of Manchester Met’s Go Global initiative, the purpose of which was to encourage their students to consider the benefits of an international perspective when it comes to their future lives and careers.

As you would expect from future hospitality professionals, our IMI students were the perfect hosts to their UK counterparts and collaborated with them in various groupwork assignments and projects.

It was great for both sets of students to benefit from varied cultural perspectives and to share their different hospitality learning experiences.

As well as the classrooms sessions, we also took our guests to the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz to learn about the operations and management of one of Switzerland’s leading luxury hotel and spa resorts.

While in the region, they enjoyed a wine tasting visit to the nearby Weingut Pola Maienfeld where they got to experience a variety of Swiss regional wines.

Although only here for a few days, the time flew by with an action-packed schedule allowing our visitors to make the most of their time at IMI and in Switzerland.

Commenting on the visit, IMI’s Academic Dean Gareth Currie said: “It was a real pleasure to welcome students from our validating partner, Manchester Metropolitan University, to the IMI campus.

“The collaboration activities around sustainability provided a great platform for both institutions’ students to work together, socialise and build an international network for the future.”

A big thanks to all our visitors from Manchester, we thoroughly enjoyed their visit and would be happy to welcome them back at any time in the future.
