The International Conference on Tourism, Gastronomy and Tourism Destination held in Jakarta, Indonesia is one of the largest and most prominent in the region.

It was, therefore, a great honour for IMI to have its Academic Dean Professor Theodore Benetatos invited to deliver a keynote speech at the event.

Welcoming guest lecturers and speakers from around the globe, the aim of the conference was the development of the subject of tourism in academia.

The event was held at IMI partner school Trisakti School of Tourism and heard from ten speakers over two days.

Professor Benetatos delivered a talk on the “Social Dimension of Sustainable Tourism Planning Development” examining how rapid development can affect local communities and stakeholders.

The event was also a great chance for him to network with international experts in the field and develop new theories and ideas to bring back to share with IMI’s students.

The event was a great success and we would like to thank Trisakti for being such generous hosts.
