MBA students on tour

15 December 2016

Our postgraduate students enjoyed a busy week of visits and workshops at leading Swiss hotels and resorts...

We firmly beleive that our MBA students will be the next generation of industry leaders.

It is therefore important that, as well as offering theoretical aspects to the programme, we also give our students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of industry.

This week in particular, was a very busy one for our MBA students as they spent three days out and about on various trips, workshops and site visits.

On Monday, we started with a visit to Fairmont Raffles Swissotel (FRHI) regional offices in Zurich where the HR Team introduced our students to the key skills involved in Human Resources and Learning.

There were a number of presentations given by key FRHI employees including Mr Pierre Botteron, Vice President Human Resources Europe, Mrs Claudia Hofmann, Director - Talent & Learning Europe, Mrs Esther Gasser, Director - Human Resources Europe, Mr Christian Hoffmann, Director - Human Resources Europe and Mr Benoit Colas, Coordinator - Human Resources, Europe.

Topics included 'Talent and Learning Strategy - Recognition, mentoring and coaching', 'Remuneration and global compensation packages' and 'Strategy of Recruiting, Talent Management and Engagement Strategy' giving our students a wide-ranging overview of HR and Recruitment for a leading hotel chain.

The following day our students returned to FRHI to attend a full-day training workshop on critical thinking through active learning and leadership.

On Wednesday, we were a little closer to home as we travelled up the nearby Burgenstock to tour the still under construction resort.

The guided visit was led by Marketing Executive Ms Lorena Lustenberger who explained the challenges involved in the planning, development and launch of a new, exclusive resort destination.

Real-world projects and site visits are an invaluable opportunity for our students to gain a true insight into the workings of the industry. We would like to thanks all the staff of FRHI and Burgenstock for their kind hospitality and engaging presentations.
