Our Social Representative Council (SRC), in addition to organising student events and activities, is also responsible for leading student charity efforts. Every semester, the SRC will organise a range of events, activities and challenges to engage the student body and raise funds for the semester’s chosen charity.
This semester, the SRC focused on raising money for the Salvation Army through a series of special charity drives. Events included bake sales, dress down days and a special dinner which was held for representatives of the Salvation Army and where a cheque for the 600 CHF raised presented.
The Salvation Army works on various international projects supporting the poor and bringing aid to those whose livelihoods are affected by war or natural disasters. Their efforts spread across borders and it is this international outlook which appealed to our multi-national student body.
As well as their charity work, the SRC has also been highly proactive in organising and supporting various student activities and projects this year. In addition to the recently opened SRC Café, serving coffee and snacks to students on campus, we also have self defence classes, a run club and a regular student newsletter running.
We would like to thank the SRC and the wider IMI student body for both their efforts in raising the money for charity and their wider work in creating an enjoyable and engaging environment for our students to study, mature and grow.
