We share many happy days with our IMI family members, but one of the most joyous comes every year at our Graduation ceremony.
Celebrating the achievements of our MBA, Postgraduate Diploma and Bachelor's degree students, the event marks the formal end of the graduates' study and the point at which they embark on an exciting new journey into the world of industry.
Every year, we are honoured to welcome visiting faculty from our UK validating partners Manchester Metropolitan University and Oxford Brookes University and it was our pleasure to invite Dr. Diane Wright and Dr. Julie Hardman to deliver the Manchester Met. awards and Mr. Peter Mcgunnigle to present the Oxford Brookes awards to our culinary students.
In addition to inspiring words from IMI CEO and Dean Prof. Benetatos, we also heard from guest speakers Mr. Pierre Oliver Botteron, Founder of People on Board Llc., and alumnus Mr. Amit Shama-Levaillant, Founder of Urban Food Culture GmbH. Both speakers were able to draw on their experience in the hospitality industry, to offer a vision to our graduates of the many diverse routes down which they could progress.
Perhaps the most emotional address came from the student response which was delivered by Taiwanese student Pin-Shin Liu (Hannah). Sharing some of the many fond memories of her time at IMI and in Switzerland, Hannah explained how she had come for an education and left with a new family.
The ceremony is a celebration of all our students' achievements, but we also took the opportunity to recognise those who has really excelled during their studies. Arianna Tomasini was awarded the Best Overall BA student award with Fabiana Bertozzi achieving the Best BA Dissertation. The respective MBA awards went to Sofia Branca and Elani Michelle Elkins.
However, not all awards are based just on the mark-sheet, this year's Tom Maher award (for the student who achieved excellence both academically and professionally) went to Sarvesh Mehrotra and the Rudolf Fischer award (for the student who offered the greatest service to the school community) went to Hannah Liu.
There were also special awards for Professional Attitude and Personal Achievement that went to Asaph Mbugua Njuguna and Asad Khan Ghauri respectively.
We are incredibly proud of all our students as much for their personal as their academic achievements and we can't wait to see the undoubted success they will make of themselves in their future lives and careers!
