Every year, the whole IMI family looks forward to our September Graduation Ceremony where we commemorate the achievements of our undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Held at Palace Casino Luzern, the event marks a wonderful opportunity for students, faculty and family members to join together, reunite and reflect on the hard work but also great fun that goes into degree study at IMI.
As ever, we were very pleased to welcome special guests from our UK validating partner Manchester Metropolitan University. Prof. Richard Greene, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge, and Dr. Julie Hardman, Head of Department – Operations, Technology, Events and Hospitality Management, assisted with the awarding of certificates and Prof. Greene addressed our graduates with some reflections on his personal experiences of graduations and their significance as a major stepping-stone in life.
We were also very happy to welcome special guest speaker Ms. Sara Rosso-Cipolini, President of Planhotel Resorts and Hotels, who offered invaluable insights into the industry based on her family’s long involvement in hospitality, travel and tourism.
Following the awarding of the degrees to our BA (Hons), Postgraduate Diploma and MBA students, we were then all moved by the Student Response speech from Culinary Arts graduate Pranav Yogesh. Pranav combined warmth, humour and emotion in his speech as he reflected on the hard work, ups and downs of his IMI experience but mainly on the life-long friends he has made and the close bonds formed with both his fellow students and the IMI faculty.
Following the ceremony, all guests and graduates were lucky to be able to enjoy an apéro on the casino terrace under the Swiss sunshine (despite the worrying weather predictions). Once again, it was a very special day that reminded us of the hard work our students put in over the course of their studies but also the personal development that turns them into such friendly, well-rounded and professional individuals that we are now proud to call our alumni!
