Short CoursesSummer Programme
With international travel still disrupted and many countries still having to quarantine on arrival in Switzerland, our 2020C intake was definitely more challenging than most.
However, at IMI, we always rise to a challenge and a combination of flexible thinking and good use of the many digital resources available to us, meant that all students were able to start their semester either physically or in online mode.
As ever, the semester started with our BIG Week induction events. This BIG Week was unique as the majority of the sessions were run in hybrid mode with some students in the classroom but the presentations also broadcast live via Microsoft Teams to students quarantining on campus and studying from home.
Students were also required to wear masks in the classroom as an additional safety measure but the new regulations did not detract from the enjoyable nature of the week with our new arrivals eager to take in all the new information about their study programmes and life on campus and in Switzerland.
For our Careers and Internships session, it was a real pleasure to welcome Hosco's Viviane Foutrel who explained the benefits of the platform when it comes to finding hospitality positions to our students as well as reminding them of the importance of keeping an up-to-date and professonal online profile.
It was also possible to still run fun BIG Week regulars such as the BIG Quiz online, allowing students to compete virtually with a series of questions designed to test how much attention they had been paying during the week to the key IMI information.
As ever, a very big “thank you” to all those who made it possible for the BIG Week to run so successfully under these unusual circumstances with special mention to our BIG Week Reps and our ICT team who were vital in ensuring the students connecting online kept up with all the sessions.
We wish all our new arrivals a great start to their study semesters and a very happy and enjoyable time while they are here with us in Switzerland!
