Hi-tech Hospitality

16 June 2017

We took our students to the Swiss Transport Museum's Media World to learn about how technological advances could impact upon the hospitality market...

Hospitality has always been a forward-thinking industry and we ensure our students are always up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends.

Luckily for our students, we have access to one of Switzerland’s leading technological innovation centres just a short distance away in Luzern.

Media World at the Swiss Transport Museum, offers visitors the chance to use the latest editing and directing software to produce their own professional video content.

In addition, it has state-of-the-art, interactive virtual reality (VR) experiences allowing our students to see the many potential benefits of this new technology for both marketing and communications.

During their recent visit to Media World, our students on the Managing Information Systems module were set a project to produce their own promotional videos using the technologies and programmes on offer.

As well as allowing them to familiarise themselves with the latest industry tech, this project also gave them first-hand experience of a “real world” assignment that anyone in a Marketing or PR team would be likely to work on at some point.

This all fits with our overall objective of producing ‘industry ready’ graduates who have not just the book knowledge but also first-hand practical experience across the hospitality spectrum.

We know technology moves at an ever increasing speed and, as a school, we work hard to ensure our students stay ahead of the race!
