Research Forum - Beyond Borders

15 January 2018

This year's IMI Research Forum was bigger than ever before with a 'Collaboration Beyond Borders' theme...

As a school with international vision, we try not to be constrained by geography or distance...

This philosophy pervaded our fourth annual research forum as we celebrated the theme of 'Collaboration Beyond Borders.'

The research forums give our BA (Hons) students and MBA students the opportunity to present their dissertation research to their peers and receive valuable feedback and advice.

Organised over two days, the opening day gives every student the opportunity to present to small class groups. The best presenters from each group are then selected to present to the whole school during Friday’s keynote addresses.

In addition, students could sign up for special workshops held by the IMI lecturers covering such diverse topics as sustainable tourism, researching with visual materials and research paradigms in the digital age.

The second day of the forum saw the keynote presentations from the selected students as well as the traditional poster competition where students summarise their research in an attractive visual format.

Congratulations go to Alvin, who won the best presentation award for his discussion of the challenges facing the Indonesian restaurant market, and Hannah, whose poster on tourism impacts of the Luzern Carnival took the best poster award.

A big "thank you" must also go to the Research Forum organising committee who worked tirelessly to ensure the event was such a success.

At IMI, borders are always something to be overcome and our students efforts at this year’s forum have further helped us to broaden our perspectives and ideas with an international outlook.
