IMI Treasure Island

24 August 2018

For our 2018C BIG Week, we set sail for the high seas and channeled our inner-pirate for a week of action and adventure...

No man is an island, and, at IMI, we believe that every experience should be treasured together as a community...

Treasure Island was the theme for our 2018C BIG Week as we took our new students on a voyage of adventure through a series of pirate-themed activities and events.

As ever, we started on Monday morning with the BIG Breakfast – a hearty feast to boost everyone’s energy levels for the week ahead. During the first few days of the week, there were a variety of campus tours and walking tours of Luzern city to introduce arrivals to their new surroundings.

We also took students on a sunny hike of the Kastanienbaum countryside where they could explore the local forests and beach areas surrounding the campus as well as introducing themselves to our farm animal neighbours.

Once the students had got to know their new home a bit better, we set them a treasure hunt challenge where they had to follow a series of clues hidden around the campus to come up with their unique code and unlock the treasure chest (or special prizes).

We stayed with the pirate theme for our icebreaker activity which involved students designing flags for their pirate ship, making up their pirate captain and then competing in a quiz to test how well they had gotten to know their teammates.

After such an action-packed week, it was time to relax and enjoy the BIG BBQ on Friday. We then gave out prizes and awards for the week to bring to a close another successful BIG Week full of great memories and experiences.

We treasure each and every student who arrives here to spend time with us on the IMI island and we look forward to yet another adventure with our latest intake of shipmates!
