Once upon a time at IMI

18 February 2019

Our first BIG Week of 2019 celebrated the magic of story-telling as we welcomed the latest chapter of students in the IMI tale...

The IMI story is 28 years old and counting and every year we welcome new students from around the globe to add their names to the latest chapters.

To celebrate the arrival of our first intake of 2019 we held a special story-book themed BIG Week: Once upon a time at IMI…

The idea was to introduce students not only to the tales that make up IMI’s history, but also to reveal some of the folklore and legends that build the story of Switzerland.

Through a series of sessions and activities with IMI staff and faculty members, the students were introduced to all the key information they will need for the life and studies at the school – everything from how to use the library to how to correctly groom themselves to the highest hospitality standards.

With Spring coming early to Luzern, it was perfect weather for our new arrivals to enjoy a tour of the local Kastanienbaum farms and forests as well as the BIG City Treasure Hunt where they got to learn more about the history of Luzern while undertaking fun challenges and tasks.

To add a bit of romance to the narrative, we celebrated Valentine’s Day in the middle of the week and took the opportunity to host a special ‘Speed Friendship’ event where new and returning students got to know each other better through a series of rapid conversation talking-point cards.

We ended the week with the BIG Book Quiz and Award Ceremony with prizes and gifts for the winning teams from the week’s events as well as a show of appreciated for our BIG Week Reps who worked so hard both in advance of and during the BIG Week.

We can’t wait to see how all our new students will start to write their segment of the IMI history and once thing is for sure – the story will never get boring!
