Students move into Mattenhof

28 August 2019

As school restarted for term 2019C, students moved into our brand new external accommodation at the nearby Mattenhof development...

Higher education is not just about what goes on in the classroom, it is also the time when most young people get their first taste of independent living and the responsibilities that brings.

At IMI, we believe these key life skills are just as important as the academic lessons learnt and, for the start of our August 2019 intake, we introduced brand new external accommodation for students wishing to live off-campus.

The Mattenhof development consists of newly built apartments in a modern development block surrounding shops and restaurants and with good transport links both to the IMI campus and the city of Luzern.

IMI has taken five apartments, each able to accommodate up to six students in three, shared rooms. Each apartment has its own kitchen, living space and washing machine, meaning students can live truly independent from cooking their own meals to washing their clothes.

The first students to live in the apartments seem to be thoroughly enjoying the experience and have already developed a routine for cooking together and dividing the house chores. (We love the sound of “Taco Tuesdays!”)

University is a time when young adults start to develop the maturity and skills that are so crucial in later life. We beleive living and working together independently is a great first step along this journey!
