New Year's Greeting

07 January 2020

IMI CEO Prof. Theodore Benetatos offers his greetings for the new year and looks back at an exciting and highly successful 2019 for our school...

Dear students, parents and co-workers,

Warm wishes for a happy new year. Health, happiness and every success in the exciting year of 2020.

Looking back on 2019, we are filled with immense pride at our school's accomplishments. It has been yet another year of significant achievements. Sometimes it is easy to take such high standards of performance for granted, but I think it is well worth reflecting on some of the year's highlights:

  • In 2019, we were fortunate enough to see an increase in student numbers. This increase was so significant that we had to introduce a number of external accommodation options in premium properties close to our wonderful campus. A great success story.

  • We are the first school in the region to successfully complete the second year of delivering our new Swiss HF program. Moreover, we did so with flying colours and we continue to deliver the highest standard of education and student satisfaction in Luzern.

  • We have successfully introduced a whole new set of programmes - for the first time including a business programmes with Manchester Metropolitan University - and we are still working on developing even more options.

  • We continued climbing the ladder of world QS rankings. Despite our small size, we have shown tremendous improvement over the past years and we are now regularly placed at the top of our field.

  • We have ensured the wellbeing of the school by renewing our lease agreement for the Kastanienbaum campus. Furthermore, we are committed to extending and adding unique solutions for extra accommodation and student life.

  • We have increased staff recruitment and now have more members of staff supporting our operations in positions that we've never had before.

  • We have already secured more international partnerships and we expect very good news in the coming year for new collaborations in various new countries such as Greece and Saudi Arabia.

  • We have passed all audits and reviews, once again with top performance. For the third consecutive year we had no recommendations or conditions. An amazing performance.

We are always striving for improvement and will continue to aim for excellence in all areas throughout 2020. Once more, I would like to thank all our students, staff and managers for their support. I would also like to thank our valuable validating partners: Manchester Metropolitan University, Oxford Brookes University and CTH for their ongoing commitment.

Last but not least, none of this would be possible without the cornerstone of our success, the Bürki family, and I would like to thank them again for their unconditional support for the school over all these years.

All the best for 2020!
