Current situation update from IMI International Management Institute...

As we move into Spring, we would like to update you on the current status at IMI Switzerland. We are delighted to report that Term A is progressing smoothly and we have no known cases of Covid-19 on campus. For this, we must thank all students and staff who are following the guidelines given by IMI and the Swiss Federal Government.

Term A Update

On the academic side, Term A will continue in the current mode until the end of the term, i.e. theoretical classes being delivered online through MS-TEAMS and practical classes, exams and tutorials/assessments being delivered normally. The Swiss Federal Government will decide on whether to ease current restrictions on the 14th April 2021 and we will update you further at that point.

The end of Term A is Friday 23rd April 2021. Students who started their current semester in November 2020 and are not continuing to the May 2021 intake need to check-out of IMI accommodation by Friday 23rd April 2021.

Reminder - Guidelines about travel

IMI’s travel guidelines remain valid for the foreseeable future – please keep these in mind, especially over the Easter Weekend and the Term Break, which starts 23rd April. Classes for the May intake will start on Monday 10th May 2021.

A) All non-essential travel should be avoided. Students continuing to Term B are not required to check out from their accommodation at IMI. Brunch and Dinner will continue to be served during the Term Break.

B) As per previous notifications, and until further notice, students contemplating travel overseas MUST relay any travel arrangements to one of the IMI Directors, in advance, on info@imi-luzern.com

C) Travel within Switzerland is also discouraged, unless for internship interviews. Please notify Reception if you are leaving Canton Luzern for any reason, as a period of 5 days self-isolation will apply upon your return. We can only facilitate self-isolation if you are booked in a single room. If you are in a twin room, then you will need to make your own arrangements.

D) Please take note of the official Swiss Federal Government quarantine list. This list changes every 10 to 15 days, so please be sure to use it as a reference. Mandatory quarantine is for 10 full days and monitored by the Canton of Luzern. Should students currently in Switzerland (at IMI or on internship) travel to any of the countries that are or will be on the official quarantine list, kindly note that IMI will not be in a position to facilitate your mandatory quarantine period. Therefore, you will need to make your own arrangements and at your own cost, to satisfy the requirements for quarantine. If you are a student on internship and need interim accommodation assistance, please contact Mrs Frey on info@imi-luzern.com

E) In addition, students opting to travel to other countries, at any point until further notice, will be asked to self-isolate for seven to ten days upon their arrival/return to Switzerland:

  • If you present a negative Covid-19 test taken 48 hours before travelling back to IMI = 7 days self-isolation
  • If you do not present a test = 10 days self-isolation

If you are sharing a room/apartment with another student, you will be obliged to organize and pay for your own accommodation/meals for this period of self-isolation, A negative Covid test is required to enter Switzerland by air. If you are unsure of your status, please contact Mrs Frey on TEAMS

F) It may be possible to organize a Covid-19 test at your own cost on the 4th or 5th day after you reach IMI (not applicable to those who have to quarantine), which could decrease the self-isolation period. The rapid test can be arranged by IMI Reception, subject to availability. Point E about self-isolation applies until you can get tested and the negative result is confirmed. If you test positive, quarantine regulations by the Swiss Federal Government will apply. Please contact Mrs Frey on info@imi-luzern.com for specific guidance and conditions related to this point.
